The Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) expresses its full support to the decision taken by the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee regarding the participation of Russian athletes in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. By deciding not to ban the whole Russian team, the rights of clean athletes have been protected. The IOC, the National Olympic Committees and the International Federations have the responsibility of finding a solution to the problems that have risen and work together towards preserving the International Olympic Movement’s integrity, which has lasted more than a century, and securing a clean field of play for the athletes, our Movement’s reason of being.
Likewise, PASO supports the position of the Association of National Olympic Committees and will continue collaborating with all partners of the International Olympic Movement.
