TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras.- The Honduran Olympic Committee (COH) appointed for the second time speed race athlete Rolando Palacios as the Honduran delegation’s flag bearer in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
After a vote by Honduran authorities, Palacios will have the honor of carrying the flag at the opening next August 5th in Maracaná Stadium.
“It is a double emotion; first, attending the Olympic Games and second, carrying the flag, which makes me so proud”, the athlete said, who also carried the flag in London 2012.
“It is incredible for me that I will be the flag bearer from among many other athletes. I would like to thank the Honduran Olympic Committee for trusting me”, he pointed out.
Palacios, who will compete against Jamaican Usain Bolt and American Justin Gatlin in the 100m and 200m races, will arrive in the competition as champion of the Central American and Caribbean Games Veracruz 2014. (NBCDEPORTES.COM)
