On April 25 and 26, 2017, the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO), chaired by Dr. Julio C. Maglione, will hold its LIV Ordinary General Assembly in Punta del Este, Uruguay.
In this Assembly, in which delegates of the 41 member National Olympic Committees will participate, reports on PASO’s activities will be presented, as well as on the Olympic Solidarity and Pan American Solidarity Programs for the 2017 – 2020 quadrennial. The Organizing Committees of the “Lima 2019” Pan American Games, the “Buenos Aires 2018” Youth Olympic Games and the “Tokyo 2020” Olympic Games will present updated information on the progress achieved and the applicant cities to host the 2023 Pan American Games, Buenos Aires and Santiago de Chile, will have the opportunity to make a presentation on their projects to the PASO delegates.
In addition, in the framework of this General Assembly, elections of a new PASO President and members of the Executive Committee will be carried out.
The President of the International Olympic Committee, Dr. Thomas Bach, will be present in Punta del Este, joining PASO in this very important Assembly.
BUENOS AIRES AND SANTIAGO DE CHILE, CANDIDATES TO HOST THE XIX PAN AMERICAN GAMES IN 2023
The Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) informs that the cities of Buenos Aires, Argentina and Santiago de Chile, Chile, submitted their Letters of Intent on time and form to be candidates to host the XIX Pan American Games in 2023.

Today, the Forum for Women Leaders in Sport in the Americas, organized by the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO), the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Peruvian Olympic Committee (POC), with the purpose of contributing to prepare the participants to occupy, in the immediate future, elected and management positions and/or to prepare other women to take part in their organization’s activities; as well as to promote women’s empowerment and gender equity.
The president of the Pan American Sports Organization (PASO), Dr. Julio Cesar Maglione, was reelected for one more term to head the Uruguayan Olympic Committee in elections held in Montevideo.
